    hey DP you read nola.com too? i thought i was the only one.

    my mawmaw and pawpaw have a camp down passed lafitte and we used to go out ther on the weekends. I remember our “pet” alligator we so lovingly named allie lived undera wharf at a nearby camp. one weekend we got a blow up boat with paddles. my cousin and i got in our boat and off we went. neither of us dummies knew how to paddle correctly and we spun around in circles slowly drifting towards allie’s hideout. my mom had to jump in that god awful water and swim to pull us back to safety.

    another time my uncle, white shrimpin boots and all, caught us a gator and made some soup.
