I left the TV on while I was doing dishes and as I was going back and forth saw:
-several penguins getting eaten by sea leopards and such;
-penguin parents getting eaten and the rest of the herd letting two baby penguins die from freezing to death (evidently that is how penguins do but why did they have to film the poor dying babies); and
-a penguin who escaped getting eaten by a sea leopard but once his poor bloody self made it back on the beach, it got eaten by two birds of prey after a protracted fight where again, the other penguins did not help.
Depressing. Remember how Bono said that “fact is fiction and tv reality”? Well this is not the reality I want on tv, and I stand by that. I like my tv penguins alive thank you very much and whatever penguin reality is, I want the fiction of living, happy penguin families swimming around on tv. Forget this authenticity and knowing how penguins do, what if I had kids watching tv? I wouldn’t want a three year old watching poor bloody penguin getting eaten on the beach after he escaped one predator! Reality sucks!
Other than that, this week truly sucked on so many different levels. Thank God it is over.
And our house smells like rotting eggs because of something going wrong with the septic tank. No it is not a gas leak, Nice Husband very helpfully lit a match (!) to prove the contrary.
I need another cup ot tea.

Poor baby penguins! I don’t like penguin reality either.
Let’s hope next week doesn’t suck quite so much.

Salaam Alaikum,
My Mum gets really cross when she watches nature documentaries. She cannot understand why the filming crew don’t intervene when animals are being killed.
Drainage problems suck. We recently had our toilet pipes slip leading to a very blocked toilet.
Btw, I bought some redbush tea today. I’ll let you know what I think.
Here’s hoping that next week doesn’t suck, insha Allah

My kids watch Animal Planet and Nat Geo Wild with me and they’re ok, Alhamdullilah. The circle of life and all that. I say well they can’t go to the super market and buy some food…

I’m sure there are some septic gases that are flammable, although not in the concentrations you’re experiencing. I hope you don’t have the kind of recurring problems we had when we used to live in California.
